The sporty compact is an endangered species. Despite everything, it still has a few diehards.
Are you one of those? The Volkswagen GTI might have been in your sights for some time. In
fact, this car has been around for more than thirty years in Canada. It survived a decline in
consumer interest. The GTI stays on the market thanks to a very popular package: an
affordable price, high performance, comfort and versatility. Apart from the intoxicating Honda
Civic SI, it no longer really has any competitors. Anyway, the German manufacturer offers

Volkswagen has managed to make the GTI a comfortable, high-performance and fun-to-

car? Unlike other models offered before, notably the Honda Civic SI or the Ford Focus ST,
the GTI offers comfortable seats and a nice smooth ride. Her demeanor is resolutely sporty:
she is balanced, nervous, precise and very communicative. Plus, its hatchback configuration
offers plenty. It is as practical as a sport utility vehicle. In 2019, Volkswagen saw fit to revive
the Rabbit name.
Under the hood, the GTI features a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder producing 241 horsepower and
273 lb-ft of torque. Volkswagen still offers the six-speed manual transmission or a seven-
speed DSG automatic transmission. Both options do justice to the engine, which offers
responsiveness and power. The only option offered for the cog is the front transmission.
Three versions of the GTI are offered in 2023: the GTI, the GTI Autobahn and the GTI
Performance. The equipment differs somewhat depending on the model chosen, in particular
the audio system and the rims. For example, the GTI Performance includes the head-up
display. The price varies between $34,000 and $42,000. Let's not forget the Clarke fabric
seats that make the interior of the sports car unique. In fact, the GTI offers all the comfort of
a luxury car with very complete standard equipment. It is equipped with a high-quality
multifunction color screen, heated seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth
connectivity with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto application integration system,
windshield wipers with rain, a premium sound system with six speakers and adaptive cruise
control.
